An oven error code can be a simple setting, such as the oven showing Celsius or the controls being locked, or a fault that needs a repair. Many codes clear if you reset the power: switch off the breaker for one minute, switch it back on, and watch the oven for a minute.
These meanings come from Samsung and Whirlpool’s own support pages. We also repair LG, Maytag, Amana, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Electrolux and GE ovens.
| Code | What the manufacturer says it means |
|---|---|
| door | The door is not closed. If it shows with the door closed, the door plunger switch may be stuck and needs service. |
| tESt or tE5t | Demo mode. The oven and cooktop will not heat (gas cooktops still ignite). Turn Demo mode off using your user manual. |
| bAd LinE | The power connection is not plugged in properly. Reconnect it correctly or use a professional installer. |
| C-10 | Appears during a SmartThings self diagnosis. Samsung says it can be ignored if the oven heats normally. |
| C-24 | Oven temperature rising faster than normal, usually because the vent at the back of the cooktop is blocked. Move anything covering it. |
| C-F0 | Communication error between components in the range. Reset the power; some induction models have a software update. |
| -dE- or -dC- | Twin Mode partition is not installed properly. |
| Cooktop in use | Shown when you start Self Clean while a burner or element is on. Turn them all off. |
| Code | What the manufacturer says it means |
|---|---|
| F9 or F9 E0 | The electrical outlet or the connection to the appliance may be miswired. If installed in the last 3 months, have an electrician check the supply. Power line noise during an outage can also cause it. |
| C | The oven is showing temperature in Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. |
| Clock is blank | A hidden setting can hide the time of day. Press and hold Clock Set/Start for five seconds. |
| CAL | Oven calibration feature. Not a fault. |
| LOC, Lock, Locked | Control Lock is on. |
| SAB, Sab, 5AB, 5A6 | Sabbath Mode is on. |
| PF | There has been a power failure. Press the cancel pad to clear the display; you may need to reset the clock. |
Codes vary by model. If your code is not listed, or it comes back after you restart the appliance, call us on (437) 231-4954 and we will book a visit across the Niagara Region and the Greater Hamilton Area.
